The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is excited to announce the opening of lifeguard certification classes for the 2025 aquatics season. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with a passion for swimming and outdoor activities to gain the skills and training necessary to make a lasting impact on our community.

“Working as a lifeguard for CARD is more than just a summer job—it’s an opportunity to develop leadership skills, build lifelong friendships, and help ensure a safe and fun environment for our community,” said Recreation Supervisor Andrés Corrales. “We encourage anyone interested in joining our team to sign up for a certification class today.”

Successful completion of the Lifeguarding for CA w/Bundle 5 course will allow participants to work at CARD’s 1-Mile Pool and Pleasant Valley Pool. This comprehensive training equips lifeguards to respond confidently to emergency situations in and out of the water. The course covers prevention, recognition, and response to aquatic emergencies, as well as care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses.
