The new Bocce Ball Complex at Community Park.

Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is excited to invite you to celebrate the grand opening of the brand-new Bocce Ball Complex on Thursday, November 9th, at 2:00 PM. This state-of-the-art complex boasts four covered artificial turf bocce courts, custom lighting, and meticulous landscaping. It is a fantastic addition to the heart of our community at Community Park.

This unique project benefited from a generous donation of almost $35,000 from the Chico Bocce Club. This contribution played a pivotal role in securing significant amenities, including comfortable benches, bleachers, a decomposed granite picnic area, a convenient bike rack, and a storage shed. Colette Roberts, the President of the Chico Bocce Club, has already initiated a small celebration with club members to test out the new facilities.

"The courts are officially open, and they're perfect!" exclaimed Roberts. "We could not have made this dream a reality without the dedicated efforts of CARD, Billson Construction, and the unwavering commitment of club members Debra and Michael Cannon."

The Chico Bocce Club is a nonprofit organization comprising passionate volunteers dedicated to promoting the sport of bocce through tournaments, leagues, events, and casual play on various public and private courts.

CARD's Director of Recreation, Anjie Goulding, extends a warm invitation to everyone to experience the inclusive and enjoyable sport of bocce ball. She also encourages you to come and explore the new courts and, if possible, join CARD for the groundbreaking event on November 9th. Don’t forget to bring your bocce balls!

"Bocce ball is a trending and inclusive sport," stated Goulding. "The addition of this state-of-the-art Bocce Ball Complex presents a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together."

Join us at Community Park's new Bocce Ball Court, located at 1900 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, in Chico, on November 9th.
