This annual tradition invites families, friends, and kite enthusiasts of all ages to come together for a free, fun-filled day of soaring excitement, music, and community celebration. Attendees can bring their own kites or take advantage of the free kites provided (while supplies last). With wide-open fields and a welcoming atmosphere, Community Park is the perfect place to launch into spring and make lasting memories.

“There’s something really special about Kite Day—it’s one of our longest running events,” said Lindsey Barrett, Public Outreach Specialist for CARD. “We’re so excited to continue this iconic Chico event and see our community come together and get outside.”

There’s more than just kites in the air—fun is everywhere! Kids will love the bounce houses, face painting, games, and crafts, while DJ Tilda keeps the energy high with upbeat tunes. Plus, enjoy live music performances by beloved local musicians Emma and Will.

While you’re at Community Park, take advantage of its many amenities, including playgrounds, sand volleyball courts, bocce ball, tennis, and pickleball.

Flying kites can work up an appetite! Refuel with delicious offerings from local food trucks. To make your visit even easier, Chico Velo will provide a free bike valet service, so you can ride to the event and enjoy the festivities without worrying about parking.

This free, family-friendly event is made possible thanks to the generous support of Race Communications, Bird in Hand, and Lamar Advertising. Find out more about becoming a CARD event sponsor at chicorec.gov/sponsor.
